A Swiss‑style hotel in a charming spot, the spa and pool were great and the massage sessions were very good, but the restaurant, while tasty, had a slightly slow service.

The Waldhotel Doldenhorn in Kandersteg offers a charmingly cosy atmosphere with a fireplace corner, gourmet cuisine, and luxurious wellness facilities. The hotel features inventive dishes, a "Grüne Saal" and "Au Gourmet" restaurant, and nicely furnished rooms or spacious suites. Amenities include an indoor pool, hot tub, saunas, massage services, and a relaxation room, as well as access to a mountain spring water source and a summer cabriolet service.

I expected a bit more attention for the price during dinner; after ordering wine it was forgotten, and when I asked again I only received a glass instead of a bottle. The same issue happened with coffee – my wife got hers but I didn’t, even though there was no language barrier. Otherwise, the staff were super friendly.

The staff were very kind, always smiling and attentive, the hotel is perfectly placed and clean—a great spot to unwind. It’s a shame only two of the saunas worked.

The building is beautiful, with lots of wood and right next to the woods, but you have to ask for many things – no room amenities, slippers, or extra towels – which gives a cheap feeling.
