The food was delicious, home‑cooked, and each of the many dishes was described by Patrizia, Diego’s wife. The setting is a dream with beautiful, gently rolling countryside. It was quiet, with only the occasional cow‑bell audible while we slept with the windows open. After four days in Palermo, this was a balm to the soul.

What a gem of a place! Dining in the restaurant is a must; they welcome you like old friends. Highly recommend.

La Locanda di Cadì, tucked on the edge of a tiny village, turned out to be a highlight of our Sicily trip. We were heading through the Madonie mountains and wanted a quiet countryside night, so we stopped by. Diego, who has a fascinating life story, runs the guesthouse and restaurant with the incredibly warm Patrizia. They greeted us, cooked, and served a delicious multi‑course meal of local foods and homemade delights. In the morning we had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the fields and gentle hills. It’s a place where people live in a small village – so if you’re looking for a pristine hotel feel or “lots to do”, don’t expect that here. That’s not what it is. But if you want to experience the warmth of real people and just soak up the charms of the landscape, it’s a gem. We loved everything. Other travelers may note the rooms are comfortable, with a fan, but lack modern additions such as air conditioning.

It’s a very quiet mountain village about 15 minutes from Petralia Soprana, so you hear nothing and can truly relax. A very nice couple run it, though they don’t speak English. Luckily we could dine there in the evenings, and the food was superb—not cheap, but lovingly cooked and served. Each of the eight courses came with a little story from Patrizia, and at the end Diego played a bit of piano. What I didn’t like was the wrong wording, but you have to know it’s very remote with nothing nearby, no café, etc. Everything has been lovingly renovated but has aged. There’s no air‑conditioning, no mosquito nets on the two windows, and the fan does what it can; still we slept well. I would have liked a place to sit outside.
