“Baden verboten”

The B&B Faro di Luce sits on the edge of Augusta’s old town, on the ground floor of an apartment building, about a 5‑minute walk from the “Sandstrand” and a 20‑minute walk from the old town and the Castello Svevo. Positives include the parking right in front of the window, the large fridge, and the nearby Pizzeria Camusa. The entrance looked a bit run‑down and there was a lot of guest turnover. The breakfast consisted of packaged foods and ristretto coffee, and the view from the window was a concrete wall, which didn’t convince us. When we asked about swimming options, the owner directed us to the nearest Sandstrand. To our surprise, we found that the water in all of Augusta is polluted by petrochemicals and swimming is banned everywhere, as a rusted street sign revealed. The host then changed his mind and recommended a suitable rocky beach about 15 car‑minutes away. At checkout he charged us an extra €2 for the bill. Our own excursions outside the city helped improve our overall impression, but the resentment remains.

The B&B is located in a complex of houses near the sea. The rooms are clean and aesthetically cared for, as is the modern‑style bathroom outside the room. Andrea will greet you punctually and kindly, and give you great advice for your stay. For those driving, the place is easily reachable and you can park on the street nearby. I would add fresh products to the breakfast to further enhance the property.

“FANTASTISCH”

A warm welcome greeted me, and the hotel let me lock my bicycles inside safely; the room was huge, and the kitchen looked lovely.
