“Lovely country pub”

The country pub was really nice; the manager laughed when I asked if they had Uber, asked where we were headed (the racecourse for our horse’s second race), and ended up dropping us off. Nothing negative.

Nothing. Extremely Disappointing, Unprofessional and Unacceptable Experience** I had an **extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience** at this hotel, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before booking a stay here. What should have been a simple issue involving bedding was turned into an unnecessarily aggressive and intimidating situation by hotel management and staff. During our stay, my baby accidentally spilled juice on the bed and pizza stains on the bedding. Rather than handling this professionally and reasonably, hotel staff approached the situation in an unnecessarily confrontational manner. A staff member came directly to our private room and informed me that I was required to pay **$100**. Later, while my baby was sleeping, the same staff member returned and stated that the manager had now instructed her to charge us **$200**. I was pressured to leave my room and go to the office to make the payment. I explained that I could not simply leave because my baby was sleeping, yet we were ultimately **forced to pay the $200. At no point were we shown a clearly disclosed hotel policy explaining these charges. We were told that we would be provided with a copy of the policy, but **we are still waiting for it**. When we followed up by email requesting the policy, instead of providing the documentation we had been promised, Brendan responded by **threatening to charge us the full room fee**. This is completely unacceptable. If a hotel has a legitimate cleaning, damage or replacement-fee policy, that policy should be **clearly communicated and available to guests before money is demanded from them**. Guests should not be presented with arbitrary charges after the fact and then threatened with even larger charges when they ask for evidence of the policy. Even more disturbing was the claim by staff that there was **urine on the mattress**, despite staff knowing that the substance was juice.
