“Wunderschönes Erlebnis voller Geschichte und Geschichten”
What a beautiful, old manor with its surrounding estate turned out to be a lucky find when we booked. At first we thought we had gone wrong, expecting a simpler accommodation. Anne is a charming host who offered us several rooms to choose from. Each was unique and authentic in its own way, furnished with old original pieces, each with a family story. Our view of a meadow with horses, a Sequoia giant tree (with history) and an old cedar (with history) was unparalleled. We especially liked that Anne also provides lodging for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. The shared dinner she prepared from her own garden was fantastic. Breakfast was also plentiful, with homemade jams and our own kefir, so no one left the table hungry. The care taken in selecting contemporary tableware and cutlery was a lovely detail. Unfortunately the stay was too short; we would have liked to stay longer. We also didn’t appreciate how little respect some guests show toward a stay in a Chambre d’hôte. You become part of the host’s household and should not act as if you’re in a hotel full of underpaid servants. It’s a special experience, sharing the local residents’ life for a brief moment.
