The staff was extremely helpful to arrange a free airport pickup and transfer to Mogao, and they even rummaged through their common trash bin to recover my mistakenly discarded multiple entry tickets! Thank you, thank you, thank you! The pool wasn’t yet very warm from the summer sun.

The hotel sits close to Mingsha Shan, and the owner personally drove us to the site and offered to pick us up again. We walked back through shops and local restaurants for 20 minutes. The ticket we bought was a 3‑day pass, so we returned early the next morning. By car it’s very close to the station and Mogao Caves—about one sterling pound each way! For just over 1 sterling pound we could take a taxi to the night market in the city center. The location was great. The owner also arranged a self‑guided trip to Yadang and other spots, and helped us plan the rest of our itinerary from Dunhuang to Xining, which was very helpful and friendly. The staff were courteous and even did our laundry. The room was spacious with modern facilities and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, it was an ultra‑wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it. On the downside, new hotels are opening nearby; some travelers might prefer a more immaculate, touristy area, but we liked the comfortable, village‑feel atmosphere and there was no construction noise.

The airport shuttle ran smoothly and got us where we needed to be without any hassle. Breakfast was solid – tasty and enough to start the day. I also loved the little Chinese cedar tree in the lobby; it gave the place a nice, cozy vibe.

The rooms were spotless and felt pretty comfortable, and the spot is handy – just a ten‑minute stroll to the Mingsha Mountain gate. The host went out of their way to help whenever we needed something. All in all, a tidy place in a good location.
