High Beach Resort

“overall, lovely beach resort. A fair value really needs to step up their game at the Italian restaurant.”

The location was spot on, the grounds and rooms were nice, and the beach under the umbrellas was great; the buffet food was very good. The exclusive Italian restaurant, however, was terrible—some dishes were unpalatable, which was a shame given the quiet, nice location.

The property is clean and modern, but for an all‑inclusive, it was disappointing that bar drinks and quality liquors were extra; the single-night restaurant option you can book had mediocre food at best, while the resort cafeteria food was much better.

Everything was perfect: the staff, cleanliness, location, sea, food, vibes, and most importantly for us in Greece, the people were very decent, friendly, and respectful. *****

The food was very good and the location right on the sea was ideal, with friendly staff. Drinks were not good, which I expected more of, and some food arrived cold.

We spent an excellent week at High Beach Resort de Malia. The room was perfect, the beach very pleasant and close (with the added benefit of reserved sunbeds for our room), the buffets were generous and varied throughout the week, the facilities efficient, and the entertainment present but not intrusive. The location also made it easy to visit Heraklion, the Minoan sites of Knossos and Malia, or the old town of Malia. Most importantly, the hotel staff embodied Greek hospitality: everyone was very pleasant and available, from reception to restaurants, bars, housekeeping, spa, etc. Special mention to Didi, who runs the spa, and to Théophilos at the restaurant, for their extreme kindness, as well as to the various buffet and bar staff. The place was well‑crowded. The beach is perfectly calm in the morning, but the neighboring establishments get a bit louder in the afternoon (though that is not the fault of High Beach Resort).
