Located in the southern Lüneburg Heath, Bernsteinsee Hotel and Ferien by Palette Resorts offers modern 3-star accommodations near Wolfsburg and Hanover. The hotel faces the Bernsteinsee lake and features a wide sandy beach. Rooms and suites have tasteful decor, balconies, and lake or forest views. On-site amenities include a bistro, restaurant, and lakeside terrace, as well as water sports, an indoor go-kart track, and an adventure playground.

Quiet location, you hear nothing and can really unwind. The lake was a bit too small; we wished we could paddle a kayak there.

We felt completely comfortable there. The accommodation was spacious and clean, the bed was super comfortable and the location was simply great. We especially liked that dogs are so warmly welcomed. We would love to return anytime! A small drawback was the lack of a fridge and that the rooms were a bit noisy.

The location is genuinely great for a hotel, right on a beautiful lake with a tidy beach and a waterski facility, and you can stroll nicely along the side canal. The surroundings give you both a place to relax and options for walks and other activities. However, it seems the owners or operators have changed, and my stay was marred by serious cleanliness issues. When I arrived, my room in the main building was full of dead spiders, mosquitoes, and other insects. After I complained, I was moved to a different room, which also looked poorly cleaned, with a superficial cleaning overall. The bed looked noticeably older and worn, and the walls were heavily soiled. The stairwell and corridors also seemed unclean, giving the impression they hadn't been thoroughly cleaned for a while. On top of that, the parking fee of 5 € per day feels too high, especially since parking used to be free. I was disappointed with the cleanliness and condition of the accommodation and hope these problems improve soon under the new management.

Very well located and great value for money. The mattresses were very hard, though.
