“Standard international-class hotel - clean but no charm nor own identity”
The hotel is a standard property for its class, clean, fairly modern, and it offers a nice view of the city and Prambanan. The swimming pool is pleasant and also offers good views. Breakfast is rated very good but leans toward local dishes rather than western, which was disappointing for us. The selection of fruit and juice was limited compared to the simple guesthouses we had stayed at before. The restaurant is okay, but nothing special. The staff are young and still need training: I ordered an Indonesian dish and asked for medium spice, which I’m used to, but the rice was fine except for a salad that was ridiculously spicy. When the waitress came to clear the dishes, she confirmed it as a side salad, ignoring its extreme heat. She apologized but offered no compensation. The pool area is nicely situated, but the wooden slats are not properly secured, so you can easily hurt your feet.
