The location is gorgeous. We arrived during a heavy rainstorm and had originally planned to hike for several days. The owner immediately asked us to keep him updated on our whereabouts because the paths were washed out, slippery, and full of rockfall. He also offered us a cancellation right away. When my mother realized we didn’t like the typical Asian breakfast, she treated us to an omelette and fresh fruit. For dinner, he booked us a HotPot within 10 minutes of arrival (highly recommended). He even called the Alishan Express and had the train hold at a very small station just for us. Communication before arrival was always excellent. We would definitely return under different weather conditions. The downside is that you have to expect long drives in the area; during the rainy season the rooms get very damp and the dehumidifier barely keeps up.
