“Great location”
I’ve stayed at this lovely hotel a few times and the riverside grounds are superb, set in a beautiful area. It’s close to a great bar where you can enjoy a lovely evening meal, and walking to Grassmere and Ambleside offers easy, gorgeous strolls. I didn’t dislike it, but the outside could use a bit more care and attention compared to my last visit; the grass was long and the outdoor furniture needed a good clean. The breakfast is a personal preference: I chose a full English, but I had to decide the day before because the staff ask what you want at check‑in; I couldn’t change the order for the next day, so I got the same again, which was fine but I felt guilty about not eating a few items. The quality was great, so I’d rather be asked over coffee what you want. I used to love the precut fruit salad and pancakes, but as a woman who prefers a lighter continental breakfast, I was stuffed on a full English. It’s heaven for a man, though. Aside from that, it’s still a fantastic hotel if you want a perfect location and peace. Ian is lovely, very chatty, and approachable.
