Hotel Pagony Wellness

The surroundings were gorgeous, with lush greenery and a nice pool area that was a definite plus. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and expansion. However, the wellness facilities and pool needed updating: the hamman and the colored showers weren't working, and the water wasn't very hot.

The staff were exceptionally friendly. It was great that the building was beautiful, but some communication would have helped; we didn't know about the construction, our view of the workers, and by 7 am the area was already closed. The garden was unusable because it was a construction site. First, the old pools probably should have been renovated; the children's pool had a lot of broken mosaic tiles, and a child had broken a section of the floor and left a splinter. In the room, the electric kettle was a brown, unused model; we were given another one that was "just" a kettle. The old kettle stayed in the room the whole time, even though cleaning had occurred. The room had two glass cups, but no coffee mug, no small spoon for tea, and the used coffee pot was not refilled.

The staff and cleanliness were very good. The wellness area, however, was not impressive. The water was too cold and not at the level expected for a hotel wellness section. No water came out of the steam shower, it was very cold, not a wellness experience but a freezing ordeal.

The breakfast and surroundings fully met our expectations. The variety was generous and everyone found something they liked. Food storage was hygienic, and the environment was clean and organized. Overall, we were satisfied with the breakfast and conditions. What bothered us was the state of the carpet throughout the hotel. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the rugs was questionable in several spots, with many stains visible, creating a noticeably unpleasant impression and raising hygiene concerns. The worn condition of the rugs sometimes gave off a faint dust or mold-like odor. We believe thorough cleaning or replacement of the rugs would greatly improve the hotel’s sense of cleanliness and guest comfort.

Average service compared to other shortcomings seems to be a plus. Huge disappointment. For example, there is no free water in the room. In this **** hotel? The restaurant has regressed dramatically. The Tom‑kha soup used to be wonderful. Today it is not even average. Goulash is a rare soup with carrots and parsley. Waiters with their eyes glued to their phones are impossible to catch on the table if you need something. Want to go from your room to the spa? Only in clothes, because robes are not available in rooms, only in the spa area. This is astonishing in a hotel that has wellness in its name. Room and bathroom condition: someone’s hair on the bathtub behind the curtain. Door frame peeling. Renovation in the hotel also doesn’t help, making a lot of noise. The hotel has dropped from a very pleasant, well‑maintained place serving great food to a ** level over two years. For the price? I don’t recommend it. Next time I’ll look for something better. It’s a shame. Return to the standard of two years ago.
