“O barato sai caro!!!”
The pousada had a promising setup, a great location, and the linens and towels were clean, yet our experience was bleak from the start. We arrived at the listed address during check‑in and there was no one, no notice, the phone went straight to voicemail and there was no WhatsApp. A local resident told us the pousada had moved to São Francisco Street, at the corner of Beco das Flores. We went to the beach and on return, we entered our room and couldn’t get hot water because the shower heater was burnt out. They had no alternative room because the only other available room had a working shower but a broken air‑conditioner. The owner told us she couldn’t help and insisted that such situations “happen” (which is unfortunate), and that the solution should come from the pousada, not us. We asked for the key to the other room to shower, and luckily we only stayed one night in the city, because the discomfort of having to leave your own room to shower elsewhere is tough! At check‑out there was no one at the front desk; we waited almost 20 minutes for someone to appear so we could hand over the key. My hotel experiences are usually the opposite: I hand over the key last minute to make the most of the room, but this time I was relieved to hand it over and waited for our transport outside on São Francisco Street. The neglect towards Brazilian tourists is lamentable!
