The room was cheerful and offered stunning views of mature gardens. Host Laura was lovely and managed to secure a table for me quickly in a busy bar when I went in for food; the veggie chilli was delicious. However, the room was noisy during the day because of beer deliveries and a loud kitchen extractor below, though I normally wouldn't be there during daylight hours.

The bathroom was nice and clean, the staff were wonderful, and the food was amazing. I loved learning about the building’s history. On the downside, there was mould on the windows and the bed was too small for two adults.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, warm, and cosy, with plenty of drawers and cupboards for storage. The hot shower was powerful, exactly what I needed after hillwalking. Breakfast and dinner were great, and on days I left before breakfast, they arranged a filling packed lunch for me. I really enjoyed my stay here.

The hotel also had a very popular pub, which was great for solo travelers. I met many people and there was no noise from the pub in my room. People on Isle and Arran are very friendly and welcoming, and the hotel staff are sweet and always ready to do their utmost for guests. They receive my warmest recommendation!

The spot is gorgeous, the breakfast lovely, and the staff very friendly. The bar food was tasty, but the portions were too large; smaller plates would have been better.
