Hilda and Berty’s hospitality was outstanding. They were always helpful, ready to assist, handled arrangements for you, and regularly checked in to make sure everything was fine. Every morning they prepared a homemade breakfast featuring local dishes.

The property was clean, and the large, comfortable rooms had AC. The breakfast was huge and typical. The people were very nice and helpful. The bathroom equipment was basic, but that didn’t matter much. Also, you have to walk about 30–40 minutes to reach the center (fort, market, etc.). The rooms were a bit dark.

Initially, I planned to stay one night in Colombo and then take a train to Jaffna the next morning, but I couldn’t book a train at all, so I took a flight that day and caught a night bus to Jaffna. I called ahead to ask when the check‑in time would be, and when I mentioned I’d be arriving by night bus, they offered me early check‑in, breakfast, and a shuttle for the early arrival. There was an extra fee, but it was reasonable. The bus was scheduled to arrive at 5:30, yet I got there around 4:00, which was a bit scary in the dark, but the tuk‑tuk shuttle met me and I felt safe. I’m very grateful for this arrangement. The couple served a memorable milk tea as soon as we arrived. I ate breakfast three times that day, and each time it was an excellent Jaffna breakfast with different dishes, all delicious and I finished everything. Since the place is a bit off the Jaffna center, tuk‑tuk travel is recommended. Thank you to the couple.

“Best place to stay for a full on experience of Jaffna!”

The hosts were really sweet and considerate, making every effort to keep you comfortable. The place was clean, and the Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing! They were also very willing to help you pick activities and plan tours in Jaffna. The only note is that you need to exit through one gate; Berty and Hilde are happy to walk you out or pick you up. That wasn’t an issue for me.
