The accommodation was awful – the bathroom smelled of urine, the carpet looked filthy, and I didn’t feel safe at all. Everything was dirty, unsavoury people were around, I couldn’t sleep on the first night because someone in the room had loud, raucous sex all night, I couldn’t find another place for the second night, and there was a full‑scale fight at the reception area; the place is dangerous and an accident waiting to happen.

The bed was super comfy, the new en‑suite bathroom felt fresh, and the overall value was great; there’s a private garden spot to relax and the staff are fantastic. I’ve stayed here many times and plan to return. The only thing missing was an iron in the room.

“This is a lovely hotel in a cosmopolitan area of Newport.”

The staff were wonderful, and the hotel feels family‑run with the older employees being both charming and helpful. The location works well, with several buses within a 10‑minute walk, and I didn’t opt for the meals package, so a Wetherspoons just a 10‑minute walk away was convenient. I didn’t find anything I disliked.
