The area around the hotel is packed with restaurants that stay open late, and the hotel itself is quiet and calm. The parrots in the lobby were a fun touch. Unfortunately, housekeeping didn't use a vacuum, so the floor was dusty, and the building's exterior looked nothing like the pictures. Getting help in English was a bit of a struggle.

The hotel was pretty, the room was big, airy, and super clean, and they even changed the towels after day one. But the room was on the ground floor and there was a lot of noise from the reception and the street. They could have been a bit warmer to tourists; compared to other places we stayed in China, it felt a bit cold. Maybe it was a language thing, but they did offer tea after our 12‑hour drive and knew we were from Guilin.

The room was massive and gorgeous, with a dreamlike view through huge windows, and it was halfway near the pagodas. The staff were super friendly. But it was a bit hard to locate.
