“Beautiful break away”

We slipped away for a mother‑daughter getaway in a stunning, picturesque spot with a gorgeous house. The beds were spotless and comfy, and breakfast was generous with a wide range of options. Hosts Shirley and Nigel were wonderful, making us feel right at home, and their thoughtful touches added to the perfection. Wildlife sightings were frequent and delightful throughout our stay. We’re already recommending it to friends and plan to return.

The welcome was fantastic, the location beautiful, and the service—both cleanliness and the owners’ friendliness—was excellent. After many trips across the UK and Ireland, I can say this is by far the best, and I hope to visit again.

Shirley and Nigel are genuinely excellent hosts, going the extra mile politely and with a smile, making everything feel effortless; breakfast offered a superb range of fresh fruit, various breads and toast, and the Yorkshire full English – all delicious and top‑quality; the place was spotlessly clean, and even the most picky guests would be satisfied; comfort scored a perfect 10/10, the Lodge is easy to locate with satnav, and the quietness guarantees a great night’s sleep; it’s perfectly situated for exploring Swaledale, Wensleydale, and Tees‑dale, and there was absolutely nothing to complain about – Ellerton Lodge delivers great value.
