The Atlas Hotel Brussels is set in a quiet location in the lively Dansaert area, 650 metres from the Grand Place. World-themed guest rooms, each representing a continent and city style, feature high-quality Auping beds, tea/coffee facilities, and non-allergenic pillows. A 13th-century brick wall adorns the breakfast room, which serves a daily buffet. The hotel offers 24-hour reception, free internet, and proximity to landmarks, pedestrian areas, and metro stations.

The hotel sits just a few minutes on foot from the city centre, and the bed was comfortable while the breakfast was good—nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. The building itself felt a bit run-down and in need of upkeep: the shower head was leaking, the sink was cracked, and the carpet looked dirty and probably should have been washed or replaced; personally I found it unhygienic and would avoid it if possible. The photos on the site didn’t match what I actually found. I believe that star ratings should reflect not only the services offered but also how well they’re maintained.
