“Very disappointing two day break”
The location is great, with ample free parking and a good breakfast and coffee; the bar offers a solid selection of spirits and beer, and the seating area feels cozy. The bedroom was clean and a good size for a standard double. However, the hotel room looked very dated and needed repairs in several areas: the headboard, made of a leather‑like material, was disintegrating everywhere; the wooden bathroom doors were rotten and breaking apart, a real eyesore; the bathroom tiling looked tired and dirty. The dining tables and chairs were also very dated, appearing dirty at first glance and, upon closer inspection, simply worn. The spa was disappointing, needing an update of tiles, lockers, doors, and other facilities. One steam room was non‑functional, and the jacuzzi area had inadequate lighting, making it hard to see the steps into the hot tubs and risking accidents. I would have liked to use the huge pool, but it was far too cold. The spa reception staff upstairs were attentive and offered robes and flip‑flops, though the flip‑flops were one‑size‑fits‑all, about a size 5, which was uncomfortable for a size 7 & 10. We chose the mud spa treatment for our wedding anniversary, but there were no toiletries in the shower to wash the mud off, so we had to bring our own shampoo or shower gel. The spa reception staff downstairs were disengaged, didn’t greet us, and when we asked for directions to the main pool, they sent us to a different location and told us it was upstairs. For our anniversary break we ate at the restaurant at 7 pm. I ordered the smoked tofu with noodles, but the tofu was rock hard, the dish was uninspiring, lacked flavor, and was lukewarm when served.
