The spot is lovely, right on the water, with simple rustic huts and decking for sun beds that give direct sea access. The excursions are reasonably priced, offering snorkeling and daily bioluminescence tours. Walking to the nearby village takes 15 minutes through mangroves, and a further 10 minutes leads to the busy but beautiful Playa Libre beach. The staff at El Hamaquero are friendly and helpful, and the independently run restaurant serves reasonably priced food for the island and Cartagena area. The neighboring Bora Bora beach club plays music from 10‑4 pm, but that didn’t bother us. The only downside is the abundance of mosquitoes, so bring bug spray; our mosquito nets help at night.

The best thing about this place is its location right in front of the coral reef :)
