The hotel advertises itself as a cafe‑bar‑restaurant, yet there is no bar or restaurant, only a pleasant breakfast room. There is just one vending machine where a 250 ml Cola costs 2.50 €, which feels overpriced. Checking in at the machine was a bit awkward.

Our room had been paid for in advance, yet upon arrival, we were informed that it was occupied and we were unable to check in. As a result, we had to look for alternative accommodation while tired and exhausted. This was an extremely unpleasant and unacceptable situation, especially considering that we had already paid for the room in full. Unser Zimmer war im Voraus bezahlt worden. Dennoch mussten wir bei unserer Ankunft feststellen, dass es bereits belegt war und wir es nicht beziehen konnten. Daher waren wir gezwungen, müde und erschöpft nach einer anderen Unterkunft zu suchen. Dies war eine äußerst unangenehme und inakzeptable Situation, insbesondere da wir das Zimmer bereits vollständig bezahlt hatten

The room was very nice and clean, and the location was fine for hikes—about 2 km to Gmunden. Breakfast was good, but the staff’s motivation varied. The breakfast room was poorly maintained, with dirty windowsills, wilted flowers, and staff who were inconsistently friendly. The staff were thinly spread, with one person handling both the kitchen and the breakfast area, making it impossible to serve more than 30 guests at once. The price‑performance ratio was therefore unsatisfactory, and it didn’t feel like a 4‑star place.
