The place is beautiful, the people are very friendly, and having wildlife right there is a great plus. I booked house 8 but they didn’t honor it; we were put in a mountain house and they tried to convince us it was an upgrade. It was good, but it wasn’t what I had reserved, and that didn’t sit well with me.

The design is nice. If you stay in the Loft rooms at Mercado Bruma you don’t get hotel amenities and you find out at check‑in.

The resort sits on a remote dirt road that’s hard to reach by taxi or Uber, and finding the unit itself was a challenge; the path to it was riddled with huge puddles. There was no shuttle to the on‑site restaurant Furna, and the room rates were absurdly high for no clear reason. The food at the restaurant was decent but also steeply priced. Breakfast at the small café was a disappointment: no tea, coffee brewed in a pot, no pastries, only hard‑boiled eggs and beans. Everything cost several times more than even La Jolla. The trees and overall setting were somewhat…?

The bakery was definitely a highlight. Unfortunately, there’s no pool or TV, and the tennis courts are not accessible from certain rooms.
