Elford House gave us a decent room and a good spot, but the hill climb was tough for two pensioners. The bathroom was fine, though the electric shower isn’t a real power shower. The lack of heating ruined our visit; we barely stayed in the hotel because the room stayed cold, and there was no permanent manager to talk to. I had to drape my coat over my duvet before bed. If you think you should call, I say you shouldn’t have to ask—management should have checked that as routine maintenance.

The location near Whitby was lovely, and the beds were super comfortable. The only downside was that the TV was just terrestrial; the smart TV setup couldn’t connect.

The place had an excellent location, the house itself was exceptional, the room was spacious, and the bathroom was great. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

It’s just a 6‑minute walk to the harbour and the transport links are excellent 👏
