The Hotel am Schloß occupies a charming half-timbered building in a quiet courtyard, 200 metres from Burgsee lake in Schwerin's centre. Comfortable rooms feature free Wi-Fi and original wooden beams. Guests enjoy lake and Schwerin palace views, a tasty breakfast buffet, and easy access to the Mecklenburg State Theatre, museums, and cycling rentals.

Right next to the castle; there’s a hotel parking lot; the city center is also within walking distance, possibly by tram. The rooms are fairly large, the breakfast is good, and it’s quiet. Great for a city trip.

The hotel is cheap and located near the castle. The room was clean. Unfortunately, the S‑train stop is directly under the window in our room, and as a “Provinzler” you can’t believe the noise the trams make.

Close to the center, decent breakfast. From Sunday until departure on Thursday, the bins were never emptied.

It was a family‑friendly hotel that made a pleasant walk to the castle easy, and getting there from Schwerin Mitte train station was straightforward. My room was spacious, the breakfast was among the best I had in Germany, and after finishing I could stash my luggage in a locked room at reception so I could explore the city without worry. The only hiccup was moving the suitcase up the stairs to the upper floor; the cobblestone patio made it a bit of a challenge.
