It was lovely and cozy with its own bar/restaurant, and I loved everything.

We booked in March for a September stay and the owner said early check‑in was possible, but as the date approached she stopped answering my texts. When we finally got there, a very nice cleaner handed us the keys and the room was spotless, which was the only good part. Suddenly the owner called us four times, insisting we had no reservation and that she wouldn’t let us back in or give us our luggage unless we paid by bank transfer instead of credit card. We complied, yet another couple who had booked was also denied accommodation unless they paid again, and they were met by two men in underpants and a rude woman; we found them on the pavement at night, distressed and without a place to stay. The next morning a staff member was seen peeking through the staff door, which was quickly shut when we noticed him. There was no cooked breakfast offered, so we had to leave the property for that. The owner never apologized or offered any help in the morning, and we will never stay there again because of her. The cleaner, however, was extremely helpful and apologetic, and the room stayed impeccably clean thanks to her.

This place no longer exists. When I arrived to check in I was told the property had changed hands and was now called “The Inn at Strathyre,” and they had no booking for me. I reported the issue.

What a huge rip‑off! The night’s charge was taken from us 15 days before arrival even though the hotel had been closed for six months, meaning it was already shut when I booked; we had to fight on the phone for an hour to get another place, which is completely incomprehensible.
