A lovely hotel near Reykjavik with geothermal baths, so the bathroom has under‑floor heating. The restaurant is outstanding. Some parts of the furnishings, like the doors and bathroom tiles, are a bit dated.

Located in Hveragerdi, the Frost and Fire Hotel features modern rooms with wooden floors, large beds, and private bathrooms, some offering views of the River Varmá. The hotel boasts an outdoor pool, 2 hot tubs, and sauna, along with free Wi-Fi. Restaurant Varmá serves Icelandic fine dining, slow-cooked in hot springs, and offers river views. Thingvellir National Park is a 40-minute drive away.

The location is pleasant and the staff are lovely, plus the food is good, but the room maintenance is quite lacking and rather poor.

The spot is fantastic, right in a geothermal area (in the morning they had us cook eggs in boiling water :-). There are two hot tubs, and at night, while soaking, we even saw the northern lights! (the property sits in a valley whose walls kept it dark, even though it was August). The room was spacious and welcoming, and breakfast was amazing, with a wide range of savory and sweet options (the best I've had on any trip!!). We also had dinner, which was exquisite. Nothing to complain about!

The restaurant is incredible.

The location is handy, the outdoor hot tubs are lovely and the view from the room is beautiful, but the room itself is tiny with a small shower, a miniature sink, no room service, no kettle (you have to borrow one from reception), and the balcony is shared with other guests, offering no privacy and the curtains don’t work.
