“Had all the goods but just fell short.”
The location was great, the grounds were well maintained, and the free‑roaming peacocks were a delight. The hot tub and sauna added a nice touch, and the kitchen and facilities were more than adequate for a home‑away‑from‑home stay. Table tennis kept the kids entertained, and a walk around the grounds was mostly peaceful and relaxing. The experience was marred by a snobbish, impersonal vibe. The reception staff were rude and didn’t make us feel welcome or valued; they gave minimal info about the room, grounds, or facilities, simply telling us to scan a QR code that turned out to be uninformative, and they suggested downloading WhatsApp for news and restaurant specials. We tried twice to book a table at the restaurant but were told the chef wasn’t taking reservations, and we were also denied take‑away food because the chef was too busy and understaffed. My wife and our five‑year‑old had to go hungry after we couldn’t secure a meal, and we ended up eating the few snacks we had left from our day’s explorations. The reception’s unfriendly tone and lack of clear guidance on reservations—especially since the chef had mentioned needing a 24‑hour advance booking—was a major letdown. Housekeeping was also lacking; tea and coffee weren’t replenished, nor were towels or toilet paper, and we never felt comfortable asking the receptionist for help. The final checkout was no better, with the same lack of service.
