Situated at the end of a path, on the edge of a cliff, with a breathtaking view of the fortress and the Haghpat monastery, this hotel surrounded by flowers reconnects you to nature. The staff were very kind, even though we don’t speak Armenian! The breakfast and dinner were excellent. Don’t rely on Google Maps to find the hotel.

The resort sits right on the cliffs, with views into the valley on both sides. The accommodations are lovingly decorated, and from the bed you can look out through large panoramic windows. The hotel is family‑run, and everyone was super friendly. Dinner was freshly prepared for us. The owners care a lot about nature, and all the food ingredients came from the surrounding area, the same goes for breakfast. There was herbal tea with fresh herbs, guinea fowl eggs and chicken eggs, fresh cheese, homemade jams, and honey from the forests. We only stayed one night, but we would come back anytime. It wasn’t easy to find with Google Maps; definitely use Yandex Maps. If you drive with Google, set Akner as your destination. That’s behind Alerverdi. If you’re at a very small church in Akner, take the gravel road right next to the church. You’ll hit a fork where a trail to the fortress is marked. Go down there and follow the path over the large meadow. At some point you’ll see the accommodation at the end. The path isn’t very easy, it’s a trail. It was a great experience.

A fantastic spot with an unbeatable view and great hospitality. Finding it is a bit tricky, but the host can send a nice video showing the way.

The balcony offers a lovely view of the canyon and the hosts are friendly. The access road, however, is a long, bumpy dirt path.
