The historic PLAZA Hotel Buchhorner Hof, Friedrichshafen, is a family-run hotel 2 minutes from Friedrichshafen Stadt Train Station. Spacious rooms with cable TV, refrigerator, and private bathroom offer lake views. Rich buffet breakfasts and fine Swabian cuisine with Lake Constance fish are served. The hotel provides Wi-Fi, on-site parking, and proximity to hiking and cycling trails, 5 minutes from Lake Constance.

Central location, right by the lake, very friendly and engaged staff, the extra cost for the Comfort Double room was worth it: a great room with lake view, lush breakfast buffet, and—what’s special—an espresso machine in the foyer for free use. The price for the parking spot at 17 € was the only downside.

First off, the location: I was glad the hotel is right next to the train station and buses, and I could reach the riverside promenade in a few minutes; the room was spacious and suitable even for a rainy day or a longer stay; I also liked the option to make tea or instant coffee, plus the two free water bottles; the breakfast buffet was nicely presented and varied, with plenty of tasty options for everyone; the two breakfast rooms were very cozy; the staff were exceptionally polite, friendly, and attentive. A tiny critique: I’d have preferred a shower, because the bathtub is quite high for older or slightly disabled guests, making it a bit of a struggle to get in; it was also a hassle to use the hair dryer, as you can’t release the button while it’s running.

After complaining about the bathroom, I was offered a different room with a suitable bathroom; the sauna was out of service.

Hotel durchaus empfehlenswert. Frühstück samt Empfangsdame dazu sehr gut. Nur 1 Person an der Rezeption wusste Bescheid. Andere Mitarbeiter hatten zu wenig Ortskenntnis
