“Happy Family Stay 😊”

The owners of the villa were very friendly and helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible. The three rooms were sizeable and had everything one could need for a pleasant stay, only two have attached bathrooms. The kitchen is well stocked and has a washing machine. We rented the whole villa for our family; it is located on a quiet street about 5 minutes by bicycle to Bentota beach (which truly is the best / most swimmable & family‑friendly beach in all of Sri Lanka). There are shops & restaurants in the neighbourhood, but for better shopping you may have to venture over the river. Could do with a little TLC as the property is old, however for the price paid we were happy.

The good reviews are a mystery to me. The accommodation, especially the bathroom, was dirty, the toilet paper was moldy, and the walls were extremely thin. I had to walk through the host’s living room, which felt like a sauna. Mosquitoes everywhere – no net, even though it was listed. The room couldn’t be sealed off. There was nothing nearby. The initial friendliness vanished once it became clear I was only staying the booked night. The price was raised afterward, even though I could show the booking confirmation. Payment was demanded immediately. The next morning, there were talks about extra fees, and the host threatened police via WhatsApp after I paid. Overall, a very negative experience!

Highly recommend! Great value for money. Spacious room with A/C, hot water, comfy bed. The place is quiet with a nice garden to relax and fruit trees. The couple is extremely kind and attentive without taking up too much space. They gave us several good restaurant, activity, and itinerary suggestions for the rest of our trip to Sri Lanka. They also offer delicious homemade meals at a low price, tailored to our dietary preferences/needs. A very beautiful stay!

“Come a casa”

The owners are a very friendly and helpful couple. We decided to have dinner prepared on our request and they cooked all kinds of typical and super tasty dishes. The house has a very beautiful garden with their coconut and banana plants that we got to taste at breakfast and are exquisite. They also arranged a Safari for us at Madu River.
