I had an amazing stay at Waypoint, staying for weeks instead of just a few nights because the setting was so pleasant; the hostel’s location is great, the outdoor area is well maintained, and the layout makes it easy to meet other travelers; the staff are very welcoming and helpful, and the value for money is excellent – I highly recommend it! Adding curtains to the beds would really improve privacy.

I tried the double room with a private bathroom on the ground floor and it was very good – spacious, with air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a nice bed, a proper bathroom, and overall well done. The next night I tested a shared room (four bunk beds) with a shared bathroom and it was fine, though not as good; the shared rooms and bathrooms could use improvement.

The location and price were good, but that’s about it – the toilets were really “minimal” and many of them needed proper maintenance.

The atmosphere was amazing – there were yoga classes, ice baths, a vibe of many young people, meetings, and a lovely space. The host was really charming, sat with us and shared many experiences, recommendations, and more. He also arranged the room for a honeymoon, decorated it, and made the ambience wonderful! The location was excellent, right in the middle of Arugam Bay’s main avenue. The room’s cleanliness could be improved, and it was a bit small for the relatively high price, even though it wasn’t peak season.
