“Cozy night in a beautifully designed shepherds hut!”

It’s a gorgeous shepherd’s hut, ultra‑cozy, cleverly designed, and surprisingly roomy; we adored having our own little garden and kitchen, and the chickens next door added a cozy touch. The bed was supremely comfortable, the silence was perfect for good sleep, and the hosts were quick, friendly, and helpful. Highly recommend!

“Beautiful and cosy hut in a fantastic Dartmoor location.”

Absolutely beautiful shepherds hut in a lovely location on the edge of Chagford. The hut is cosy and very well equipped, and is surrounded by a piece of private garden. It’s a short walk into the centre of Chagford, and you are only about a five minute walk from Chagford swimming pool. The river can be reached at the bottom of the adjoining field, and you are right on a couple of footpaths - perfect for starting a walk in the surrounding countryside. The open moors can be reached easily either on foot if you’re a walker, or quickly by car. Hosts were helpful and friendly, and we appreciated the little touches like fresh milk and eggs on arrival. We absolutely loved the skylight that allowed for stargazing, and the peace and quiet of Dartmoor national park made this a deeply relaxing place to stay. Not something we disliked, but something to highlight that might be difficult for some guests - the bed folds away into the wall and needs to be pulled down to sleep. This is an easy and well-explained process, but does involve folding down the table, which is quite heavy. If you’re on your own, it might be a bit of a struggle to fold the table back up in the morning!

What a stunning place. The moment you enter the hut you can instantly tell that it was built with a lot of love and attention to detail. I can’t recommend it enough, one of our favourite spots during our roadtrip through England. Thanks a bunch for having us!

“Rushford Shepherds Hut”

The spot is spot-on – just a short stroll to a town packed with shops, restaurants, and pubs, and the whole place is calm and relaxed. The hut itself feels carefully designed, offering everything you’d expect for a glamping stay. The firepit in the evening is lovely, and there are plenty of spots to sit in the garden. Chickens roam around and a resident cat drops by to greet us almost every day. It’s simply stunning, and we’re already planning a return. Thanks to the hosts at Rushford Shepherds Hut! The only minor drawback was the compost loo, but that’s a new experience for us and not really a negative on the hosts – there’s really nothing to dislike at Rushford Shepherds Hut!!
