Only the price mattered. The room was a disaster: the hotel had an 8.4 rating when I booked, but in my view it deserves no more than a 5, even by Asian standards. It was filthy, everything was damaged, and there were ants in the bathroom and on the bed. The sheets and towels smelled bad and were not washed properly. The room’s odor was awful, like rotten. At night someone must have smoked a cigarette near the air conditioner, because the smell woke us up. Luckily we had our own toiletries, since the dispensers were so covered that we were afraid to touch them. Had it not been for the late hour and our fatigue, we wouldn’t have stayed.

Finding this place on MAPS can be confusing, but once you know the route it’s easy to get to, and it’s even closer to the bus station. The ants are a problem; the staff warned me not to eat in the bedroom because of them, yet they appeared even when I didn’t eat there. I used the dining table outside my room as suggested, but my leftover food was full of ants, and there were ants in the bathroom too. If you have leftover food or bought oleh², it’s best to ask the staff to keep it in the fridge on the first floor.

Check‑in was a breeze and the hotel sits in a very quiet spot, but the room had a strong durian scent—probably not the staff’s fault—and there were a lot of ants. The shower temperature was impossible to control, swinging between scalding hot and cold, and the bed felt uncomfortable.

The price was good and the location was close to both the city centre and the station. The road to get there is very narrow and poorly signposted, and the neighbourhood feels like a maze of alleys. The 4‑am prayer is heard very loudly. Cleanliness was lacking – I found a cockroach in the bathroom.

We thought the place was great! It’s tucked in a quiet side lane yet still within a 10‑minute walk to the main sights. The neighbourhood feels very friendly and authentic, with many hawker stalls, small cafés, and a laundry nearby. The room is spacious, tidy, and the window looks out onto the green, calm side lane. You can also sit outside.
