“Stunning peaceful area, lovely for families and people with dogs”
It was a really lovely converted 2bd barn, very well equipped, with loads of living space. The kitchen/diner was very functional and it was absolutely brilliant to have access to a washing machine, dishwasher and 2 fridges, although as a sole guest I just washed my dishes in the sink. There were also screened‑off terraces adjoining each barn to sit outside. The communal courtyard garden area was pretty and it was helpful that there was onsite car parking close to the barns. All barns have solar panels on the roofs, powering the heat pumps so it should be efficient to heat as well. The barn had heavy good‑quality fabric curtains, insulated for warmth, and nice Roman blinds in the main living area. Owen the manager onsite was a very polite man, who kindly brought me a clothes stand to dry laundry indoors in the changeable weather. This is a very peaceful, quiet homely place to stay, ideal for singles, couples or families and pet friendly too. There was also a communal hot tub I didn’t use but was an unexpected extra facility for guests to enjoy. It is not easy to find and the current roadworks on the A47 made it a bit complicated, but I found it eventually after calling the site office for directions when I was close to their location and too tired. The area is beautiful but the location is more rural, so it’s a bit of a drive to a larger supermarket but doable. The timber slatted front doors are a bit draughty and the door locks were old, so there was a lot of play inserting the key into the worn lock, but I got the knack of it and there was a heavy insulated curtain you could draw from inside to keep the draft out.
