Hotel Balsthal is situated in Balsthal village, 3 km from the A1 motorway. The hotel comprises four adjacent buildings, offering a breakfast buffet and free parking. Rooms are bright, comfortably furnished, with cable TV and private bathrooms. The restaurant serves Swiss and international cuisine. Nearby trails offer biking and hiking opportunities, with a bus stop 50 metres and train station 350 metres away.

Central location. The rooms had no air conditioning, though we heard that this building is not permitted to have it by building law.

We used Balsthal as a base for day trips around the region; the hotel’s location helped cut down on driving time. We really liked the hotel and its attached restaurant, the room was nice and quiet with a huge bathroom and very comfortable beds, the buffet breakfast was generous and the staff friendly—nothing to complain about. The village is relatively small and, even in the second half of August, it feels semi‑deserted after dinner; it wasn’t a problem for us, but don’t expect any entertainment options.

The breakfast was delicious, the staff were friendly, and bringing a dog was no problem—they were always considerate and helpful. We love staying at this hotel whenever we’re in the area.
