We stayed here for 7 days starting September 20, 2026, and it completely redefined what Greek hospitality means to us. Having stayed in many different regions across Greece over the years, we can confidently say we have never experienced a welcome or a sense of community quite like this. We stayed in a truly spacious apartment. The windows and balcony offered a panoramic, breathtaking view of the sea framed by the dramatic Cretan mountains. Because it was late September, the nights were beautifully crisp, cool, and incredibly peaceful. There was no traffic or city noise—only the gentle, soothing sound of goat and sheep bells echoing through the valley. The historic village of Achlada itself is, unfortunately, largely abandoned and in ruins. While Achlada is quiet, you will never go hungry thanks to the family's recommendations. They pointed us toward Taverna tis Ntinas, a fantastic, authentic family-run taverna nearby. It turned out to be one of the absolute culinary highlights of our entire trip. We enjoyed the best lamb we have ever tasted, perfectly paired with exceptional, homemade local wine. Marcos and Valerianos were fantastic guides. They mapping out exactly which hidden local beaches to visit and recommending exceptional regional restaurants. Every single choice they pointed us toward was absolutely brilliant. The residence acts as a wonderful meeting point. Expect to spend your evenings sharing drinks, stories, and laughter with a vibrant mix of guests from different corners of Europe and all over the world. It felt like a cozy, global village where everyone naturally connected. If we are being completely thorough, it is worth noting that while everything was clean, the towels and bed linens felt a bit worn out and tired. A small update to fresher, newer linens would easily elevate the comfort of the otherwise excellent rooms to a higher level
