Riad La Fayette Bed & Breakfast

The décor is lovely, the location sits right in the heart of the medina, and the room was clean. Finding it was hard, and the staff were almost non‑existent—no one was there to greet us, no one answered questions, and we received no info about meals or check‑out. The riad and room were damp, the shower was cold, there were no windows or proper ventilation, the AC barely worked, and there was no tap water available.

“Authentic Riad that is in the heart of the Medina with exceptionally professional staff.”

Amine and the Riad cook were fantastic; they keep the place spotless and are very welcoming. The property has authentic touches everywhere and plenty of levels to relax, including a rooftop. They’re intuitive and adapt to cultural differences, like offering more savory items such as eggs for breakfast. Our room was regularly refreshed with towels and linens, which we appreciated. The Riad sits in the middle of the Medina, so walking to all the winding shops and stalls is easy. The only drawback is that the room has no windows, so it’s a bit dim.

“A complete deception, I do not recommend this place at all!”

This was the worst experience we’ve ever had. The accommodation was terribly disappointing, unsafe, and nothing like the pictures. The rooms were in awful condition, with a strong unpleasant odor, dirty towels, and overall poor hygiene. If you’re willing to risk getting sick, this is the place. The location felt unsafe and frightening. We could barely find the riad because there was no clear entrance; we had to ask several locals for help, many of whom didn’t know where it was. The entrance seemed hidden inside a cave, through dark, narrow passages that were uncomfortable and scary, especially at night. The staff were very unpleasant and unhelpful; they wouldn’t even change our room despite the terrible conditions. We felt ignored and disrespected. Because of these unacceptable conditions, we left the riad and found another place. We never received any support, refund, or proper assistance and were left outside in an unsafe area with no help, making the whole situation even more stressful and frightening. It was a complete disaster from start to finish, and I would never recommend this place.

“Very bad experience, avoid if you can! (but good breakfast at least)”

Breakfast is the only decent part. Our experience was bad from the start. We arrived around 23:00 near the riad but couldn’t find it because the Google location was wrong and there were no signs. The host should definitely send a video on how to get there since it’s on a side street behind a gate and hard to locate. A man led us through very narrow, strict streets, asked for money, and that was not a nice night experience. Once we found the riad, no one opened the door and the host didn’t reply on WhatsApp, so we had to knock hard until a lady from staff woke up and opened it. The building is poorly maintained; the rooms smell of mold and humidity, which made our clothes always wet. The host was never present during our stay, replied rarely to our messages, and left us to two staff ladies who don’t speak English. The only good thing is their breakfast. The price was high for the level of the place. Avoid this structure if you can.
