The spot was spot on—just a two‑minute walk to the fort and three minutes to the souq and wall entrance. As we neared the inn, the area instantly felt calm and quiet. After dinner we dove into the pool, soaking in the glow of date and banana palms lit by soft ambient light. We wanted a place that felt like old Nizwa and offered an authentic vibe we couldn’t find back home, and The Al Dar Inn delivered. I’d definitely recommend it to any tourist heading to Nizwa and plan to return with friends when they come to Oman.

The staff were super responsive and helpful, and the hotel’s location in the heart of the city was great. However, the entire property was locked down for a corporate seminar, so breakfast took place in the seminar room while the rest of the guests worked—an awkward timing. The room was very basic and the layout was confusing; the curtains opened right onto the seminar room entrance, so I didn’t feel like opening them.

The team was very cooperative, from reception to cleaning staff, and the buffet and pool area were beautiful with trees. The facilities were lovely, the shop was convenient, and the breakfast and food were varied. Everything was within walking distance of cafés, amenities, and restaurants, all located in the old town and close to the promenade. Every single thing was great.

The location was amazing, though a bit tricky to locate. The staff were extremely helpful and the room was very nice with great views. It’s a renovated building that feels very peaceful, right in the center of everything around the fort. Breakfast was very good. The swim pool, however, isn’t really a swimming pool; it looks more like a paddling bath from the pictures.
