Tillingham Winery

Everything was great, the wine tour was really good, and the food was incredible. One thing that could be improved is providing some information about the included dinner, as we didn’t know what to expect, and the timings of dinner and breakfast. We went for breakfast at 7:30, as written in the booklet in the room, and there was no one there.

“Beautiful setting with great food and drink, would highly recommend to others”

The winery was lovely and pretty, the tour was fun and educational, and the wine here is amazing even if it’s a bit overpriced.

“Extremely disappointing experience, confirmed booking not honoured”

We had a confirmed booking at Tillingham Winery for the night of a wedding taking place next door. We tried calling several times earlier that day to check how to collect our key as we would be returning around 11pm, but nobody answered. We therefore went to Tillingham before returning to the wedding. My husband gave my name and explained that we were staying there and attending the wedding next door. He was given a key for room 11. At around 11.30pm we returned, opened the door and discovered we had been given the bride and groom's room, complete with their champagne, wedding card and personal belongings. There was nobody on site to help and the out-of-hours number was unable to provide a solution. We were left late at night in the middle of the countryside with nowhere to stay. I was 7.5 months pregnant at the time. Thankfully, the incredibly kind owner of the wedding venue (Cherry Barn) offered us accommodation in her own cottage. What made the situation even more frustrating was that Tillingham initially told me that I had cancelled my booking and therefore had no reservation. I challenged this and provided evidence . They have since investigated and confirmed in writing that I did have an active reservation, that the booking had failed to appear in their system, and that the wrong room key was also issued to us. I have tried to resolve this directly and have been very patient. I was told that the matter would be investigated and that the General Manager would contact me regarding a resolution. Despite following up, I have now received no further response. I deliberately held off leaving a review to give Tillingham a fair opportunity to rectify the situation privately. Unfortunately, after almost four weeks, I am still waiting. I would strongly recommend that anyone booking here confirms their reservation directly with the property and does not assume that a confirmed Booking

“Enjoyable stay but a few changes would have made this a luxury experience”

The breakfast was great and the spot itself is in a fantastic location, but the outdoor furniture was worn out with torn cushion covers and there was no fire pit. I also found no kettle or cups/glasses, no tea or coffee, and no milk in the bell tent, plus no welcome pack even though the tent was just a few minutes’ walk from the main building. I had to walk to the main building to use the kettle, get fresh water, and access the shower and washing facilities.

“Relaxing, interesting and stunning surroundings.”

The place is simple and stylish, and the rural setting is absolutely fabulous. Nothing else to add.
