“We waren blij met het zwembad”
The pool was nice and the photos were accurate, though they didn't capture the vibe and ambiance. Breakfast was okay but basic. The rooms were fine, basic but with good beds and showers. However, the room faced the street and was noisy; the hotel sits on a busy road. In a small village you’d expect no issue, but truck traffic starts at 6:00 and feels like it's passing through your room because the windows are open. The rooms have no air‑conditioning, so after a day at 35 °C it stays warm. At 7:00 the church clock next to the hotel rings, not just seven strikes but with an introductory melody, followed by the freight traffic. Around 8:00 it calms a bit. The church clock rings every quarter, half and hour. When we arrived, no one was at reception; only a young man in the ‘biergarten’ with friends handled the check‑in, very friendly, and gave us two beers as a welcome. He also mentioned that on Wednesday and Thursday the kitchen was closed, which happened to be the days we stayed. Staff was short, annoying but understandable given the tough times. The rooms were otherwise fine, with decent showers and beds, but it felt more like a bed‑and‑breakfast; no service for the two days except coffee at breakfast. Everything else was self‑service.
