I stayed next to a Roman excavation and the place was nice, with a good breakfast and friendly staff, but the air conditioning in our room didn’t work well.

You can walk to the beach, which is beautiful and clean, with several well-equipped shacks and plenty of free sand. Gioiosa Ionica Marina is a quiet town that has everything you might need.
