This stylish guesthouse in remote North East Iceland is very welcoming, and the hosts keep Melar spotless and charming. The only downside is that we only stayed one night.

A wonderful place to relax – highly recommended! We can recommend this beautiful house to anyone doing a tour of Iceland who wants a few days of peace and recovery in between. The accommodation is truly special and invites you to simply unwind and enjoy the stunning surroundings. You should be sociable, because the house is usually shared with other guests. We were lucky to have the entire house to ourselves, which made it especially quiet and relaxed. We even had the hot pot heated up for us, which was a delightful touch after our tour experiences. The hosts are extremely friendly, warm, and helpful, yet never intrusive, and you feel welcome right away. Even though it’s a bit off the tourist trail, there’s plenty to see and do.

Melar is a wonderful guesthouse with very nice hosts. The rooms are lovingly furnished and the guesthouse has an absolutely original café. Breakfast and dinner were superb and the ambience was great.
