The Langtry Manor Hotel, a 19th-century listed Edwardian manor built in 1877 for King Edward VII's mistress, Lillie Langtry, is a 5-minute walk from Bournemouth's cliff tops and 1 mile from the town centre. This luxury hotel combines original charm with modern amenities, including free parking and WiFi, and has been named the "best hotel in Bournemouth" by the Guardian.

Both aspects were good, but the room (3) was poor, especially the bathroom compared to our friends in room 9. There was no space to dry off, and the shower was positioned at the slope end of the bath, making it dangerous and ineffective.

The breakfast at the sister hotel across the road was really good, and the staff there were lovely, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself feels very dated, and the description failed to mention that the Suites require climbing several flights of stairs, including a steep, narrow one that was totally unsuitable for my 79‑year‑old mother; the kind guests gave us a downgrade to a twin room instead. Our second suite was also very dated, the shower had no pressure, the jacuzzi didn’t work, and a pane of glass was missing from one window. Even after four weeks, the staff have yet to reply to our complaint or offer any compensation or apology.

The historic property is lovely and in a great location, with very good and interesting decorative touches. The only downside is that there is no bike storage.

It’s a manor from the late nineteenth century, everything is very intricate, so no two rooms are the same. Breakfast is served at the sister hotel and is very good. This room has a bathtub that sits in the room itself, which is amusing. The Wi‑Fi in room Lillie is very weak, sometimes non‑existent, which is a shame.
