“Onsen in a forest”
The onsen is great – three kinds of baths, not crowded, staff are attentive, responsive, and polite, and they speak good English. We drove there and the car was ready as soon as we stepped out of the main door. The food is high quality and fresh; they even offered some game meat. The only complaints are that there are a few more cakes and fewer sweet items between 3‑6 pm, the menu is a bit too vegan, the meat portions are tiny, the place feels like a maze, and the riverside chairs should be added. Still, it’s a fantastic ryokan overall.

今回は特にありませんでした。. 夕食を和食にしたが、食事の前にウエイターから「メニュー中の牛肉は、あと２千円払えば最高級の品にグレード アップできるが、どうする？」と質問されたが、グレードアップせずにそのままでいい、と返事をして夕食を開始したが、食事中腹が立って食事を楽しむことが出来なかった。どうしてか？っていうと、グレードアップせずに摂った我々の 夕食は明神館が提供する２級品（グレードアップしたものが１級品）だからです。高い料金設定の旅館なので、予め２千円アップした料金設定にし、泊り客全員に１級品を提供すればこんな不愉快な思いはしないで済みます。 明神館の立ち湯と静かな落ち着いた佇まいが気に入り、今まで４回利用させていただきましたが、今回は上述した夕食と待合室のけばけばしい装飾（ハロウィン）にガッカリしました。きっと経営スタッフが変わったのですね？

Everything was perfect, nothing to complain about.

The meals were generous, there were even nighttime rice balls, and the drink service was plenty – I was satisfied. The hot spring was relaxing, and being in the forest let me enjoy a truly out‑of‑the‑ordinary time.
