The Montague On The Gardens, a 4-star luxury hotel, offers 2 restaurants, an on-site gym, and 2 sun rooms overlooking private, secluded gardens. Luxurious, individually decorated rooms feature satellite TV, movies, and marble bathrooms in some. The hotel is a 4-minute walk from Russell Square Underground Station and near The British Museum, St Pancras International, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, and the West End.

The bed was comfortable and the complimentary water was appreciated; the marble countertops in the bathroom were a nice touch, and the staff who brought our bags were very helpful. The absence of a walk‑in shower was a let‑down, though the bath/shower combo was still quite decent.

The staff were super friendly and service‑oriented. When booking, we couldn't see the bed size, so we initially got a room with a very small bed. Luckily, we were able to upgrade to a larger room with a bigger bed.

It was a 15‑minute walk to the heart of Covent Garden, and everything else was easily reachable on foot – the British Museum was just outside the door (including the tip that the north entrance is quicker). From Heathrow, the Piccadilly Line takes you straight to Russell Square, and after a quick stroll through the small park you’re at the hotel. All bus stops were very close, making it simple to reach any spot. The location was superb and quiet at night. The rooms were well maintained, very clean, a bit small but fine. The staff were great, very friendly (a big thanks to ABI and his colleagues at reception – so accommodating, attentive, and professional!) and quick in everything. The coffee tasted very good, the breakfast was good, very British. The bread could have been better; there are good bakeries in London too. We missed a minibar in the room, i.e., a small fridge, and, as mentioned, better bread for breakfast.

The old‑world charm and impeccable service were delightful; the décor was beautiful, and the lounge and dining areas were elegant. The staff were very professional and helpful, and both breakfast and dinner were very good. Nothing was missing.
