The building was dilapidated, the rooms were filthy, the bathroom was appalling with massive mold on the ceiling, the fire alarm on the ground‑floor common area sounded constantly every 5 minutes making sleep impossible, and the value for money was zero.

The price was reasonable for Cambridge and it wasn’t far from our workplace; the bed was clean, the shower was hot, and it was fine for construction workers or people on a budget; the car park was adequate for a car but too cramped for my van, and if another vehicle had parked next to me I would never have been able to exit, so I wouldn’t choose it for a romantic weekend.

The kitchen and utensils were pretty decent, but there was mold in the shower and on the ceiling, a chair in the room had a big dirty spot, the carpet wasn’t clean enough, one fridge in the kitchen wasn’t working and smelled bad.

The room was conveniently on the bus route since we arrived by train, there was a single parking space if needed, the bed was comfortable, and we could use the communal kitchen, dining, and sitting areas; it was on the ground floor but we could hear the room above, which had squeaky floors that might bother a light sleeper. The curtains needed more hooks, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the walls were thin so we heard noise from other guests.
