“Enjoyed the location and immediate surroundings.”
The scenery and the dining room for breakfast and dinner were lovely, though the bedding didn’t match the comfort we’re used to at other hotels.

The food was the best we had during our two weeks in England, and the property is gorgeous; we stayed in the second‑nicest room, which we adored except for one issue: the shower wouldn’t drain and flooded the floor. The staff called it a known problem and handed us free pre‑dinner drinks. If the shower in the second‑nicest (most expensive) room is prone to overflow, it needs fixing; I was in the bathtub when the facilities girl came to repair it, and fortunately my bath stayed full of bubbles.

A beautiful place with a comfy bed and good room amenities, but the property itself didn’t impress enough to dine there again; the service was poor, starters arrived before drinks, and the bill had mistakes.

A charming hotel in a large, historic local building, elegantly furnished. The beds were great, and the welcome kit in the room—water, tea, coffee with both capsule machine and kettle—was excellent. The bathroom setup was superb. Unfortunately, the vintage feel of the UK places shows up: a steep and a bit narrow staircase with thirty steps. The windows lack double glazing because of their “Fine Arts” rules, but the issue could be fixed by doubling the inner windows (seen in Salzburg, Austria). There is heating: for now I’m using the bathroom heater, which is a real pleasure. Because of such a steep staircase, and being an older person staying at a high‑end hotel for a 15‑day trip, I expected help moving my large suitcase.
