The Southend Hotel, Maroubra, is a beachside hotel located less than 10 minutes' walk from Maroubra Beach. It features free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, liquor store, and bar. All rooms have a balcony, flat-screen TV, and private bathroom. The hotel is next to a supermarket, pharmacy, and bakery, with cafes and nightlife within walking distance, and 16 minutes' drive from Sydney Airport.

The rooms were clean and large enough. We were driving from Melbourne and this was our first stop. We got there at 8:30 pm, which was convenient because the pub was downstairs; we checked in and went out for dinner right away.

The room was clean, but I needed ear plugs because the rooms next door were noisy. The bed was comfortable. The location was great and close to the beach. I would have liked bottled water in the fridge, but it wasn’t available. The instant coffee was okay, but a coffee pod would be nice. Reception was unattended for check‑in after several rings on the bell, so I had to call the reception phone to get staff’s attention.

We stay at the Southend hotel quite a bit because it’s close to family. It’s always clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The pub below is handy for meals, and the supermarket, chemist, baker, etc., next door make it an attractive option. Buses are nearby too. The stairs could be a challenge.
