Cayley Mountain Resort is set in Bergview, central Drakensberg, with views of Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle ranges. The resort features a swimming pool, hot tub, and spa facilities. Chalets are spread along the ridge, each with a flat-screen TV, seating area, microwave, and kettle. A restaurant, bar, and shop/cafe are available, along with a Body Bliss Day Spa and various activities.

The view is nice, but that’s basically it. It feels like a typical timeshare, so if that’s what you’re after, you’ll find plenty of it here; the staff are focused on their paychecks and bring no personality to the job.

The view is very beautiful and calm. I wish I had been told what to expect in the room, for example that a single room doesn’t have a kitchen.

It’s quiet and tranquil, the finishes are awesome, there are enough activities that you don’t need to leave the property, the food is good, and the reception staff were amazing. The restaurant service was poor—my wife received the wrong burger, breakfast service was appalling, no one was stationed near the serving points so we had to shout for help, and there was no hot water at the serving point even though there were teabags.
